Emo's was already loud before Coco Jones walked out. Packed wall to wall. No band. Two dancers. A mic. That was the whole production and it was enough.
Lady London opened with DJ Zookeepper and did not play opener. Bars, presence, the room paying attention. Then Coco: Double Back. Caliber. ICU. People were singing like they had been waiting to do it all week.
She pulled a meet-and-greet guy on stage and sang to him. Tender, a little funny. The room got quiet in a way a sweatbox at Emo's does not usually get quiet.
By mid-set it was hot and nobody left. She talked like she was catching up, not performing gratitude. Then she dipped, lights down, people reaching for bags — and Here We Go (Uh Oh) snatched the whole room back. Loud. Stupid in the best way.
I texted somebody when I got to the car. You already know what I said.
