Wu-Tang brought Forever: The Final Chamber to Moody Center. You could feel the room knew what it was walking into. Thirty years. Not a laser show. Brotherhood, loss, the verses we grew up on.
Run the Jewels opened like they had something to prove and didn't. Ooh La La. Legend Has It. Close Your Eyes. A handoff, not a warmup.
RZA came out first, smoke, Bring Da Ruckus. Then the Clan: Ghost, Rae, Deck, GZA, U-God, Masta Killa, Cappadonna, Young Dirty, Method. Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthing ta F' Wit. Can It Be All So Simple. C.R.E.A.M. I was not discovering these songs. I was in a building full of people who weren't either.
Solo stretch: Cuban Linx energy from Rae and Ghost. Method had the room on All I Need. Then GZA, Masta Killa, Cappadonna for the people who still listen to bars. It got quiet on purpose.
Young Dirty on Shimmy Shimmy Ya. Triumph. Method on the barricade. RZA said all good things end, champagne going. It felt like gratitude more than a funeral.
Black men loving each other out loud on a stage that size still matters. I was glad I went.
