Cardi B’s Second Album Is Called Am I the Drama? Of Course It Is

Cardi announced Am I the Drama? for September 19, Atlantic, 23 tracks. The cover is red and there are crows. She has not been quiet for seven years. She just has not given us an album.

Invasion of Privacy was 2018. Grammy. Every song certified. Bodak Yellow. I Like It. Then WAP with Megan, then Up, and a comment section that would not shut up about the album. She put both of those singles on this one, last.

The line she put out with the announcement: "Seven years of love, life, and loss… I gave them grace, but now, I give them hell." That is the Cardi I want. Not a comeback. A woman who is done explaining the wait.

Outside was the first 2025 single. She did it at Cannes for Spotify. Raw, which is her default. I am not grading a record that is not out yet. I am saying I still have Be Careful in rotation and I want the rest of the thought.

Moody Studios

Jasmine. Austin. Live music, Black culture, and whatever I actually sat through. I write like I was in the room because I was.

More from the desk

Church to Club and Back

Sunday morning and Saturday night use the same voice. I never thought that was a contradiction.

Ticketmaster Math

A cheap floor seat is never cheap. Houston, Austin, and Dallas will all take their cut. I still buy them.

The Afters Problem

The venue dumps you at 11. The night is not over. Where it actually goes depends on the city.
