Teddy Swims at Moody Amphitheater

Teddy Swims brought I've Tried Everything But Therapy to Moody Amphitheater on August 6. Waterloo Park, doors at 6:30, Cian Ducrot opening. I went because that voice does something live that the radio version only hints at.

Cian Ducrot held the park with a piano and a stack of sad songs. "I'll Be Waiting." "All For You." People got quiet for him, which is not nothing when it's still daylight in August.

Teddy came out with Freak Freely and went through Part 2 like he meant it. He talks between songs. He sings like he's arguing with somebody who isn't there. Moody Amphitheater is a big lawn and he still made it feel like he could see you.

Texas got three of these: Austin, then Irving the next night, Houston on the 9th at 713. If you missed this one, that was the window.

Moody Studios

Jasmine. Austin. Live music, Black culture, and whatever I actually sat through. I write like I was in the room because I was.

Church to Club and Back

Sunday morning and Saturday night use the same voice. I never thought that was a contradiction.

Ticketmaster Math

A cheap floor seat is never cheap. Houston, Austin, and Dallas will all take their cut. I still buy them.

The Afters Problem

The venue dumps you at 11. The night is not over. Where it actually goes depends on the city.
